Kosian

an informational carrd

Definition

Kosian is an umbrella term for any alterhuman identity that is caused by or affected significantly by delusions, hallucinations, and/or psychosis.Kosian encompasses all identities of which delusions, hallucinations, and/or psychosis are a major part. Other terms like vairel or endel may fall under it. Kosian is intentionally broad, and if you think you are kosian and have experienced delusions, psychosis, or hallucinations then you can identify as kosian. Kosian is, however, exclusive to those who experience or have experienced delusions, hallucinations, or psychosis.

Usage

Kosian's pronunciation is kos-ee-in.Kosian can be used as its own term, or it can modify an existing term, such as one's essential experience of a kintype changing due to hallucinations. The identities specifically would be called a kosian kintype, kosian hearttype, kosian constel, etc, or it can be prefixed to them (such as kosikin or kosihearted). Kos is the noun used to refer to any kosian identity. The suffix (used like -kin) is -kos or -ikos depending on preference. For example, one can say they are wolfikos, deerkos, etc. Alternatively, the identity can be said as a noun prefixed with kos- or kosi-.Here are ways kosian can be used:
- I am kosian.
- I have a kosian kintype. / I am kosian wolfkind.
- I am wolfikos. / I'm a kosiwolf.
- I am a James kos. / My kos is James.
- I am kosihearted with wolves.
The word kosian comes from the word psykose, which means psychosis in Norwegian.

FAQ

Isn't this just endel?
This term has a wider scope than endel, which would fall under it. Endel is a delusion based identity, but kosian is an identity caused by or affected by any kind of psychosis, delusion, or hallucination.
Isn't this just D/A?
The same answer to endel applies to this.
Why create kosian?
Kosian has a wider scope than some existing terms which felt restrictive to me and others I talked to for various reasons.
Is this against any group or term?
Kosian explicitly does not take a stance in any discourse and respects others' rights to use the terms they want to use. Please do not ask about my personal thoughts on term discourse.
Kosian is free to use if you want it, if you use any other term or not, and you don't have to use it if you would rather use something else instead.Kosian may work in tandem with any other alterhuman identity, and is not an attempt to delegitimize any.Is kosian exclusive to psychotic people?
No. This is because kosian identities can be caused by non-psychotic in nature delusions and hallucinations. Even if an individual only has a delusion one time, if it affects their identity enough to change it significantly, they may use kosian.
How much does an identity need to be affected by psychosis / hallucinations / delusions for me to use kosian?
There is no particular limit for who can use this term - it is free for any who feel it describes them, and I will make no attempts to tell others not to use kosian if it is in their experience.

Flags & Symbols

The main kosian flag, with and without symbol:

The symbol alone:

This symbol is the kosian eye, which represents insight about oneself and one's identity. The plus sign instead of a circle in the center represents the user experiencing their reality in a nonstandard way, resulting in an identity that is impacted by this difference in reality. It is also a nod to the positive symptoms of psychosis, though negative symptoms may also influence identity and count under kosian.
